can you maybe email the OEM of alt and ask for a schematic of things, which will show you what all connections are for then, and be exact for it, rather than maybe us guessing wrong by mistake?

you might also have a starter relay/or solenoid in /near your fuse box that could be bad, or again corrosion issue, causing your problem with starter, many times this goes before the actual starter itself!

have you ruled out vapor lock,( I am assuming this is a gas motor machine??, could be wrong though) for the running issue? warmer weather now, and it can happen!, machines working in dusty environments, vents can get plugged up over time, or even seen spiders build webs in caps blocking vents...

I would suggest trying to contact a dealer, they would have to know, and some links to basic spec's on machine, its was also made between 1991-1997, so parts might be discontinued or hard to find ! But your dealer nearest you would have the best info on that...

are you using OEM alternator, or some china brand off places like Amazon? you can take your alt's to a shop and have them do a test on them to rule out there being good or bad! I know many have bought things and had them fail in short time, due to , well poor quality materials in the cheap...
