Check all the linkage, lube it or replace what is worn out. Take the floor boards out to see what the cause is. Maybe a simple fix.

I also had issues with the mice in the machines or around them. When not in use I added Dryer sheets in many places. That seems to work well. I place these sheets in small areas under floor boards in buckets of wood and wood piles. It does work. Or it seems to. Good Luck with this!

You are correct. That is one sure way to see. Water is heavier than oil. I would rather do a complete flush with tank, Cylinders, filter and so on. Oil does not have that creamy look nor does it show bubbles of air. If the system is not contaminated. Just my Opinion. How all that water...

I agree switch the lines and check the spool valve and where it connects while doing this it may be stuck. I also had the same idea that maybe a line is reversed or in the wrong position. Let us know what is found. Thanks
